Update: Recording Quality Audio and Video with an iPad

December 12th, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in Technical

Unfortunately, I must report my experiment failed miserably.  The Azden microphone itself works great.  However, the third party microphone adapter/converter I purchased that is supposed to allow you to use an external microphone does not work with the iPad 2.

My attempt this time around may not have worked as anticipated, but I assure you I am not done.  I will find a way to make this happen.

Recording Quality Audio and Video with an iPad

December 7th, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in Technical

I want to begin creating YouTube videos for my law firm using our iPads.  This seemed like a simple enough task, but I soon realized the front facing camera and audio quality is less than desirable.  In order to achieve the quality audio and video I am accustom to I knew I would need to use the rear iPad 2 camera and an external microphone.

I purchased an Azden lavalier microphone, also referred to as lapel microphone, a 25 foot male to female extension cable, and a third party microphone adapter for my iPad 2.  Now, I can “mic up” and record the attorney with proper audio and video at whatever distance I feel necessary for the given recording.

I purchased the equipment yesterday.  I have received shipment notifications on all items purchased.  When I receive the packages and test it out I will post a video to show you the end result.
