Google: Instant Search Results

September 8th, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in Technical

And you thought Google provided instant search results before?  Well, now they are providing them even faster.  Today Google has unveiled something newer and faster. Today when you type a search query with Google, results appear after the first letter is entered, and they update as the user types. This new way of searching is what they have dubbed Google Instant.

Sometimes I ask myself, “Is Google making me stupider?” I suppose that is debatable.  That aside, Google is an amazing search engine and over all company.

Pay and Receive Money via Text Message

August 31st, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in Technical

Venmo LogoWhat is Venmo?
Venmo is an easy way to pay and receive money using your cell phone via text message. You will no longer have to make trips to an ATM machine or worry about writing checks and putting them in the mail. With Venmo, you can pay your friends, family, and favorite shops by simply sending a text message.

When you sign up, you receive an account where you can store your Venmo funds. If needed you can link your Venmo account to a credit card or checking account.  So, transferring money between friends, family, and businesses becomes fast and streamlined.

What’s the catch?
Venmo is a startup company who is just getting off the ground.  Although this may sound like a great idea this payment method is still in its infancy. I would suspect most businesses, are not supporting this as a payment method just yet. But, looking forward, I’m going to bank on this becoming huge!

BlackBerry Thumb

Woman Recovering From ‘BlackBerry Thumb’ Surgery

I own and use a Blackberry device to talk and email friends, family, and clients everyday.  In fact, I have two BlackBerrys. The above referenced article states that she was writing emails to clients for 12 hours day.  I think it’s great that she a hard worker.  I know all about 12 hour days.  I wish more people would work hard and be passionate about what they do for a living.

My question is this: If your thumbs feel like they are about to fall off wouldn’t you try to minimize use of the device? Come on, figure out a different way to send those emails to stay in touch with your clients.  There is a vast array of differnt phones, desktop computers, laptops, netbooks, etc..

I don’t know about you, but, I think I would rather spend $300 on a netbook than have surgery on my thumbs.
